Managing Health and Safety Risks course fully met expectations

The L’Oréal Hummingbird Bursary participants thoroughly enjoyed the interactive sessions on the Managing Health and Safety Risks – The Essentials course, allowing them to engage with other health and safety professionals from Nigeria, Uganda, the UK and Ghana.

All the participants rated the content of the course as ‘excellent’, with every participant rating the trainer’s knowledge as ‘excellent’ and stating that the Managing Health and Safety Risks – The Essentials course fully met their expectations.

“I found the course to be a highly valuable investment in my professional development. I feel more confident and equipped to contribute to creating a safer and healthier work environment for myself and my colleagues. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to enhance their understanding of health and safety risk management,” said Chidera Azudiugwu, HSEQ Associate at Havenhill Synergy Limited.

“The practical insights and real-world scenarios provided a solid foundation for understanding and addressing potential workplace hazards. I feel more equipped to contribute to a safer working environment,” added Faiza Adekoya, Health, Safety and Environment Intern at the University of Lagos.

On the assessment, the average score of the 10 Hummingbird participants was an amazing 91 per cent.

The Hummingbird Bursary, in partnership with L'Oréal, promotes inclusivity in occupational safety and health. Successful applicants gain funded training places on IIRSM’s key training courses.

L’Oréal Global Vice-President of Health and Safety Malcolm Staves coined the phrase “Be the hummingbird”, inspired by a fable about how we can all make our own important contribution in life. 

He said: “The Hummingbird Bursary promotes the idea that every one of us has a part to play in creating safer, healthier places of work. I’m delighted to be teaming up with IIRSM to offer their excellent training as part of the scheme, and thanks to our partners on the judging panel.” 

The judges were: Occupational Health and Safety Policy Adviser at RoSPA, Karen McDonnell; Louise Hosking, Executive Director at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health; Global Health and Safety Manager at L'Oréal, Thiago Ramos; and NEBOSH COO Dee Arp.
