  Most leadership communication defaults to broadcasting - team meetings, emails, walkthrough tours. It is efficient, and it consistently fails to create genuine connection with the people doing the work. This webinar argues that the alternative is not more communication but a different kind of presence at the front line, practised deliberately.

The underlying shift is one of paradigm. The prevailing model casts leaders as experts and workers as listeners. Purposeful presence inverts that: the leader's role is to hold the workforce capable, drawing out insight rather than transmitting it. We call these breakthroughs Moments of Safety Transformation, and makes the point that they cannot be taught - only experienced - because they arise from within the person having them.

Shannon Overland brings her clients engaging and dynamic expertise, commercially astute professionalism, and a track record of successfully working with leaders to cultivate their desired organizational culture. For 30 years, Shannon has partnered with major clients in the forest, manufacturing, transportation, utility, and oil and gas sectors to deliver services in leadership development, organizational change, executive coaching, and the development and implementation of safety management systems. Prior to joining DEKRA, Shannon was head of operations for a forestry company, where she spearheaded the implementation of a safety system that significantly reduced TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and garnered numerous industry awards for safety. Building on her experience, Shannon specializes in leadership development, organizational change, and engagement initiatives, including coaching and mentoring leaders. As a Principal Consultant with DEKRA, she has delivered expert leadership and management consulting services to a diverse group of leading national and multinational corporations.
