Opportunities to connect, share and learn

Networking is vital to your professional development and career growth and with IIRSM you can enjoy plenty of opportunities to meet peer-to-peer with other members.

Many of us might think twice about networking, associating it with feeling awkward and having to ‘sell’ ourselves. Not with members of IIRSM.

In branches around the world, they meet face-to-face and online in friendly environments to share experiences, to learn new things about risk and safety and to connect with people in the same profession as them.

It’s about not being on your own. We want you to feel part of a global community of people, and local community of professionals near you, who understand you and care about what you do.

So, here are just five of the benefits of networking with IIRSM members

  • Strengthen business and personal connections – regularly engaging with your new contacts and finding opportunities to support them helps to strengthen your relationships
  • Gain fresh ideas and knowledge – IIRSM members are an innovative and insightful group of people. Your branch can be an excellent source of new perspectives and ideas to help you in your risk or safety management role
  • Raise your profile – being visible and getting noticed is a benefit of networking that’s so important in career building. Making your face known will open doors
  • Get access to job opportunities – expanding your contacts through your network is a proven way to create new job opportunities in risk and safety management. In work as in life, it’s often about who you know, so start meeting new people
  • Build confidence – by putting yourself out there, you can step out of your comfort zone and begin building new social skills and self-confidence. The more you network, the more you’ll grow
