Over the last six years we have identified via our research the need to address the underlying risks associated with public health and or the people we employ or insure. The consistent theme that has emerged over this time and evident in increasing the vulnerability of people to Covid-19 are factors such as: age, inactivity, excess weight, sub-optimal nutrition, poor sleep and negative attitudes and believes. These factors underpin problems such as mental ill health, musculoskeletal disorders, digestive problems, type 2 diabetes, heart problems and some cancers. To understand these factors further we now also use DNA and Epigenetic testing as part of our Wellbeing programmes but also part of how we diagnose and treat ill health. Using such a tailored approach to each individual totally changes the care pathway for many and substantially reduces costs.

healthcare rm is passionate about risk management and believe it is an area of business which is often not understood, nor is this recognised by Governments. It is likely that a risk management approach to the pandemic over the last 15 months or more would have offered considerable insight as to how we could have managed this risk better. The reason why we sponsor these awards is to encourage organisations and individuals to showcase what they have achieved in the hope that more people understand the importance of our profession.
