IIRSM welcomes ITV’s Group Operational Risk Director to Council

IIRSM welcomes ITV’s Group Operational Risk Director to its Council

The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) is delighted to announce that Ruth Denyer, Group Operational Risk Director at ITV, has been co-opted onto its Council from January 2019.

Ruth is responsible for developing and embedding an organisation-wide strategy and common approach to risk management across ITV and oversees the group approach to risk management, embedding it throughout the global business.  Ruth directly manages Health and Safety, Insurance and Business Resilience for the Group.  Ruth and her team have driven a culture of risk ownership through the business, seeing a step change in their approach and ownership of risk through a number of key initiatives over the last 3 years, including training, online presence and reporting.

Ruth said “I passionately believe that Health and Safety should be viewed as a risk profession and when considered through that lens, the opportunities and learnings that open up are significant. I also believe this is the only way that we can remain current as a profession.  I believe the IIRSM can support the approach to look holistically at risks (particularly operational risks) aligning the way we approach risk within businesses with the way the business activities are managed.  I’m delighted to take on the role of trustee, not only to support IIRSM’s strategy but also to take responsibility for governance of this well-regarded Institute.”

Andy Hawkes, President of IIRSM, said: “Ruth brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role as a trustee and her knowledge of risk management will prove invaluable as IIRSM reviews and implements its strategy for growth.”
