Membership & branches committee

The purpose of the Membership & Branches Committee is to drive forward projects and initiatives that benefit members and work with the IIRSM team on the specific projects and initiatives.

It is made up of seven members of the Institute.

 

Rosie Russell (Chair) is Fellow of the Institute and Secretary of the East Scotland Branch

Rosie has worked in the Charity Sector (Medical Research) and is now a Health and Safety Manager for the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh where she manages a wide risk portfolio including fieldwork (including Arctic, Antarctic, Rain Forest and African sites), high pressure vessels and chemical hazards. 

 

Jason Maitland is Fellow of IIRSM and has been a member for almost ten years

Jason has 20 years of risk management experience primarily focused in Occupational Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Quality, Crisis Management and Business Continuity.  He is a practicing professional but I lectures on risk related courses at the degree level (MSc & BSc).

 

Matt Cox (Deputy Chair) is a Fellow and currently Chair of the UAE Branch

Matt is currently employed as Regional QHSE Manager for the Bauer Group of Companies, overseeing its operations across the Middle East.

Whilst based in the Middle East, Matt has strived to promote and develop awareness of the health, safety and risk management profession and through his association with IIRSM, has established collaborative partnerships with various regulatory authorities.

 

Paul Budden – A Fellow of the Institute and a member since 2004. 

Paul has a strong background in corporate health, safety, fire and environmental management and a professional background in the public, private, entertainment and consultancy sectors. He specialises in event safety, security, fire and risk management for various festivals, sporting events, exhibitions and carnivals.

Paul is also an associate lecturer for the Emergency Planning College.

 

Sarah Fry is Business Development and Communications Manager at the Institute of Quarrying. 

Sarah has over fifteen years’ experience as a senior marketer and communications professional, currently working at the Institute of Quarrying where her role is to help strengthen revenue streams as well as identify new commercial opportunities. Sarah has worked in membership bodies and is conscious of the commercial realities in which not for profit organisations must operate.

 

Abdullatif Albitawi is Fellow of IIRSM founding member and current Treasurer of the UAE Branch

Abdullatif chartered chemical engineer holding an MSc in Energy Studies. He has more than 17 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.  His areas of expertise include but not limited to QMS, OHSM, EMS, operation management, process technology and business development.

 

Dan Terry is a Council Member and Fellow of the Institute

Dan has over 20 years of industrial experience in the training, coaching and consultancy field, in countless industrial sectors.  He is a cultural change specialist focusing on safe leadership and moving organisations beyond compliance.   Dan has created motivational cultural change programmes to help improve safety culture in a wide variety of organisations across the UK, Europe and North America.
