Developing an effective wellbeing strategy 

This half-day interactive workshop will run through the 6 stages to developing a wellbeing strategy and you will leave with a plan of development areas and practical actions to implement in your organisation.

We will review leading research and evidence into what makes an effective wellbeing strategy and bring in real-life examples and insights to make the content practical and relevant.

It is a collaborative workshop where we encourage you to share, learn and support one another as you will have plenty of valuable experience to bring to the group.

Whether you already have a wellbeing plan in place, or are unsure whether you need one, this workshop will help you to make simple, positive changes in your organisation to improve the wellbeing of your workforce.

Embedding staff wellbeing 

This one day workshop for managers and leaders helps to develop proactive tools and behaviours that will embed positive staff wellbeing. From practical techniques and tools to soft skills in listening and having difficult conversations, this training forms a fundamental part of leadership development.

We focus on how managers can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing in the workplace without being an ‘expert’ and clearly define the boundaries of your role.

The aim is to develop proactive leaders who create open and supportive working environments, are confident in spotting signs and addressing issues early, and feel equipped to support a team member who is struggling with their mental health. Part of this workshop would also be to identify self-care strategies to keep leaders well.

Safety message: Nobody will be expected to share anything personal if they do not wish to and training takes place in a safe and supportive environment. We will briefly touch on topics which may be emotive including depression, anxiety and suicide.

Dates & times 

Developing an Effective Wellbeing Strategy starts at 9am and finishes at 12:00pm (UK time).

Embedding Staff Wellbeing is comprised of two, 2 hour sessions on the same day with a reading task in between. The first session starts at 9.30am and finishes at 11.30am. The second session starts at 2pm and finishes at 4pm (UK time).

Developing an Effective Wellbeing Strategy

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • Identify what wellbeing means to your organisation and tie the strategy in with its vision and values 
  • Understand how to gain buy-in and engagement from all stakeholders 
  • Review current working practices, policies and processes and what is/ is not working well 
  • Learn and share with other businesses as to what is working, not working and ways to overcome potential barriers 
  • Identify what support needs to be part of your wellbeing strategy 
  • Put in place an action plan of development needed for each of the 6 stages discussed 
Embedding Staff Wellbeing

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • Understand your responsibilities as a manager/ leader in embedding staff wellbeing
  • Understand your own perceptions and biases that exist surrounding mental health 
  • Identify warning signs and changes in yourself and others as early as possible 
  • Build confidence in listening and communicating about mental health and wellbeing 
  • Develop tools and proactive behaviours that will minimise stress and create a supportive environment 
  • Understand where to go for further support 
How this course maps to the Risk Management and Leadership Competence Framework

Meet the trainer

Lisa Whittleton 

I’ve had an interest in how we think, feel and behave since long before completing my Masters in Occupational Psychology and this was shaped by personal experiences growing up with close family / friends affected by mental ill health. I’ve seen the results of not prioritising wellness having grown up in a world where it was not discussed openly.

I love helping managers and teams to create phenomenal places to work. I start by acknowledging that we are all human, with vulnerabilities sand no matter where our mental health is currently, we can all thrive at work. I know from experience that long term change does not come about through a sticky plaster or one-off interventions. To create a cultural shift, we need to work on longer term solutions.

Our training and consultancy support is therefore all about providing you with simple, evidence-based and practical tools that proactively mange wellness.

Working in this field is a constant reminder of how easy it is to slip into unhelpful habits in terms of looking after your mental wellbeing and achieving the right ‘work-life’ balance. I do have to work hard to practice what I preach, and don’t always get it right. This is what makes my faciliation real and relatable for you.
