Introduction to Accident Investigation

Andy is both a Fellow Member of IIRSM and a chartered safety practitioner (CMIOSH). He also holds Membership of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators (MIIAI); Membership of the Institute of Leadership (MIoL); and is accredited as a health & safety consultant with the UK Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).

During his career as a health & safety specialist he has undertaken a wide range of consultancy and training projects, for example:

• a forensic investigation into the potential legal liabilities arising from the collapse of a building which was undergoing refurbishment in Central London (acting in this case as advisor to Defence Counsel)

• developing and presenting a series of courses on critical decision making for paramedics and officers in the Irish National Ambulance Service (done in partnership with the National Ambulance Service College)

• addressing the “IXth International Scientific and Practical Conference on Health & Safety”. The goal of this online conference, hosted from Warsaw, was to popularise the modern European approach to safety management within Ukraine organisations

His specialist interests include crisis management (in particular the roles of planning and communications) and human error mechanisms.

Currently he is working in collaboration with The Protect Alliance (UK), acting as their client advisor on crisis management topics.
