Speaker subject: Transport Management
Does your organisation's activities include Transport Management? Whether your transport operations consist of just one or two vehicles or a full fleet, you'll need to be familiar with the requirements of The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
Who is responsible for ensuring that your vehicles are not overloaded? Driver or Employer? or both?
In these economic times, load optimisation is also vitally important to fleet operators, to ensure they are maximising loads and have the right vehicles for the job.
Did you know that VOSA enforces licensing and testing, with the aim of improving the roadworthiness standards of vehicles, ensuring the compliance of operators and drivers, and supporting the independent Traffic Commissioners.
This 1 1/2 hour presentation is designed for H&S professionals/managers/Transport Managers and seeks to raise awareness of the dangers and risks associated to vehicle overloading.
By the end of the presentation you will understand:
Why does overloading occur?
How big is the problem of overloaded vehicles on our roads?
Statistics/Prohibition rates
What are the dangers associated with overloaded vehicles?
Enforcement
Penalties
Legislation
Understanding vehicle maximum permissible weights Precautions and advice for fleet operators Types of equipment
