Membership Levels

There are different levels of IIRSM membership which is explained via the two streams of membership.

Membership streams and levels

There are two membership streams. A “health and safety practitioner stream”, for those qualified or studying to be health and safety practitioners, and a “Specialist stream”, for those who are qualified to NVQ level 4 (or equivalent) and above, in a profession associated with health and safety practice but who hold no health and safety practitioner qualifications.

There is also a Fellowship level which can be applied for after five consecutive years at full member level in the Health and Safety Practitioner Stream or Specialist Stream. Alternatively you may apply for Fellow or Specialist Fellow using the like-for-like scheme (see below).

Like-for-Like Scheme Like for Like Scheme requirements The Like for Like Scheme is a way for current IIRSM members to fast track to the Fellow level of membership, rather than having to complete 5 consecutive years at either Full or Specialist level; as well as allowing new members to join at the Fellow level.(Photocopy of Membership Certificate for Fellow Status at your recognised Membership Body is required, along with proof of CPD participation). See Accepted bodies
