A
Farewell to IIRSM's Chief Executive
After 13 years developing the
Institute into a thriving, well known and respected professional
body, our Chief Executive, Julie Silvester, sadly will be
leaving IIRSM on 3 October 2008.
Julie commented “I have been fortunate to work with a strong
Board and a great team who have helped me steer IIRSM through
many exciting changes. These changes have resulted in us
doubling the membership, enhancing the practical benefits for
members as well as raising the profile of IIRSM, the health and
safety industry and, of course, the members themselves.”
Julie, who will be taking the trip of a lifetime by travelling
around the world for a few months before coming back to the UK,
said that she will miss the camaraderie from the Institute’s
members. “I have met so many IIRSM members, at exhibitions,
presentations, banquets and, of course, at our annual House of
Lords luncheon. I am always impressed by their passion for
health and safety and their loyalty to the Institute.”
During her time at IIRSM Julie has also taken the Institute
through considerable organisational development including
relocation, expansion and incorporation, at the same time
improving governance and launching several new initiatives.
However, she feels the time has come to let someone else take
the reigns and lead IIRSM into the bright future that it
undoubtedly has.
The Board expresses its sincere thanks to Julie for everything
that she has done for the Institute and wishes her every success
for the future.
