Direct Debit Scheme

IIRSM Direct Debit Scheme

Direct Debit is an easy and convenient way to pay your annual membership fees. We will automatically collect your fees, taking the hassle out of renewing membership and reducing the risk of lapsing due to non payment.

To join the Direct Debit scheme, just print and complete the Direct Debit Mandate, and return it to us in the post. This is an Adobe PDF file.

To ensure the Direct Debit Mandate can be processed in time for your renewal, we will need to have the mandate at least six weeks before your renewal is due.

We will write to inform you at least two weeks before your membership is due for renewal and then debit the amount due at the beginning of the following month.

IIRSM members are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee which provides assurance to the payer that in the unlikely event that an amount is withdrawn in error it will be immediately refunded.

If you have any questions regarding the Direct Debit scheme or your membership, please contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Direct Debit Scheme

Q. Will the IIRSM collect membership subscriptions in the month that they receive my Direct Debit?
A. No, membership subscriptions will still be due on the anniversary of the date you joined i.e. if you joined in April then the mandate will not come into effect until April.  (Unless there has been a change to our renewal date in the meantime).  Furthermore, we require the mandate at least six weeks in advance of our renewal date, in order to allow time for it to be processed.

Q. What happens if there are not enough funds in my account on the actual day you collect my subscription fee?
A. Your bank will advise us accordingly and we will then write to you asking for payment by cheque or credit card.  (ie. we will only attempt to claim for the payment once via the Direct Debit scheme).

Q. How can I cancel my Direct Debit?
A. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society.  Please also send a copy of your letter to us.

Q. How much will be debited from my account?
A. We will also advise you of the amount due at least two weeks in advance of your renewal date.

Q. Why should I return my mandate now if my membership subscription isn’t due for a number of months?
A. To ensure that we, and your bank, can act upon your instruction promptly when your subscriptions are due.

Q. Can I send my completed Direct Debit Mandate by Fax?
A. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept faxed copies of the Direct Debit Mandate as your bank requires an original signature on the form.
