IIRSM Provide New Helpline for Technical Enquiries
IIRSM’s new technical Information Helpline was launched in
January. Members have access to this service Monday to Friday
9am to 5.30pm by email, phone or fax.
The technical Information Helpline deals with member’s enquiries
on occupational health, safety and the environment. It is
staffed by qualified health and safety professionals who offer
detailed and impartial advice and we have already had a number
of complimentary comments from members about the new service.
As with all information
services there is a great demand but of course there are
limitations on the volume of enquiries that can be dealt with so
here are a few points that hopefully will help everyone:
1)
Have your membership number ready.
2)
Be very focused with your question which will help the
team to provide you with the information you require. It will
also help the flow of enquiries that are being dealt with.
3)
Health and safety crosses over into other areas such as
employment and road traffic so are you asking the right people
the right question? We all have heard about the 999 emergency
number being called to ask obscure questions such as the
telephone number of the closest take-away. I am sure this will
not happen to our information helpline but please spare a
thought for the team who have to search for the answer which all
takes time.
4)
When you have a really difficult question answered why
not put pen to paper (or tap the keyboard) and share it with the
rest of us, send us the question you asked, the answer you
received and how it helped you.
Just to remind you,
the new contact details for the technical information helpline
are:
Email:
iirsmhelpline@sypol.com
Telephone: +44
(0)1296 488854
Fax:
+44 (0)1296 488858
Of course, all
general membership enquiries should still be directed to
IIRSM
on:
Email:
info@iirsm.org
Telephone: +44 (0)20 8741 9100
Fax: +44 (0)20 8741 1349
IIRSM receive many general enquiries from
members who ask about a whole range of issues such as upgrading, paying their subscription,
changing their address details etc.
We also receive
numerous enquiries from prospective members.
Please make sure
that all such
membership enquiries are directed to the
Institute and not to
the technical information
helpline.
