About the IIRSM: Board
of Directors

Keith Scott
MSc,
MSc, FIIRSM (Hon) FIIAI,
EurOSHM,
CMIOSH, MIoD, SBCI - Chairman
Keith is Group Head of Safety
at Royal Mail. Working within a small Corporate
Social Responsibility team, he is responsible for
Royal Mail Group safety strategy and providing
expert advice on Group wide safety issues. Royal
Mail Group is unique in that it employs almost
185,000 people in the UK. Every working day, Royal
Mail processes and delivers 83 million items to 27
million addresses. Each week Post Office branches
serve over 24 million customers. Every year the
domestic and European parcels business General
Logistics Systems and Parcelforce Worldwide, handle
some 360 million parcels.
Previous employment includes Head of Health and
Safety at the Ministry of Justice, Department for
Constitutional Affairs and the Greater London
Magistrates' Courts Authority. In addition he has
experience in Security and Business Continuity
within Central and Local Government.
Keith is keen to promote professional competency and
improved communications within the wider safety
community.

Geoff Lloyd FIIRSM, CFIOSH - Deputy Chairman
Until retiring in July 2003, Geoff was Head of Safety for
the Metropolitan Police Service and was also
Secretary of the London Public Services Section
of IOSH. He has also been an Associate
Lecturer of the University of East London and
Thames Valley University. Until recently
he lectured at the Police National Search Wing, part
of the Royal School of Military Engineering on
Search team safety. Geoff joined the Board in
2000. |

Norman Stevenson DipSM, DipEM,
AIEMA, FIIRSM - Deputy Chairman
Norman joined the Board in December 2006
and is the Safety Manager for Robertson Construction in Stirling.
He
is also the Vice Chairman of Safety Group’s UK and Chairman of
Scottish Chamber of Safety. His previous roles include working
as a mining engineer; he has
held various positions as a safety practitioner including
Group Safety Health and Environmental Manager for Motherwell
Bridge Group
of Companies. Norman was
able to transfer his knowledge from the prescriptive
Mines
and Quarries Act into his current health and safety career. |

Paul Hopkins FCIS
Paul is the Financial Controller for European
Operations at Eaton Ltd (formerly Aeroquip
Vickers Ltd). Paul brings a stronger financial dimension
to IIRSM’s Board. |

Dr Peter Griffin FIIRSM
Peter started working in occupational health part-time as a
General Practitioner and obtained health and safety
qualifications in 1984. He joined IIRSM in 1987 and
completed his training as a specialist in Occupational Medicine
in 1991. Most of his occupational health experience has been in
local authorities and the NHS, but he has also worked for the
Metropolitan Police and has been a Civilian Consultant in the
Defence Medical Services (MOD) since 2000. Peter is particularly
interested in the psychological aspects of health at work. |

Russell Slack: Chartered FCIPD, FIIRSM, FCIM,
MInstLM, LCGI
Russell is an independent
Consultant with Ask Uz Safety Solutions and has
41 year's practical experience in health and
safety / human resource and training management
with a proven record in the implementation of
innovative policies, organisational change, and
best practice solutions primarily within the
Manufacturing Sector but also has experience in
construction, general retail, transport,
catering & hospitality, education, local
government and property management sectors.
Russell has operated locally, nationally and
internationally and is a member of a number of
working groups in the UK and Ireland promoting
health, safety and environmental issues. |

Mr. Peter W Hall
DipSM, FIIRSM, CMIOSH, FInstLM, MBIFM, MIoD.
(Chartered Safety &
Health Practitioner)
Director, Risk Management & Company Secretary SGP Property &
Facilities Management Limited.
Peter is a Risk Management, Training and
Administrative professional with International experience. A
former Occupational Health Nurse he is a Chartered Member of The
Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), A Fellow
of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM),
Member of the British Institute of Facilities and a Fellow of
the Institute of Leadership and Management. Peter has undertaken
extensive training in Quality Management, Training &
Development, Environmental Management and Commercial
Administration. He has worked in the Facilities Management
Sector for 10 years and previously in the Aviation, Healthcare
and Pharmaceutical Industries in the UK and USA. Peter is keen
to see the Institute develop and be recognised as a voice for
safety in the widest possible sense on behalf of its members. |

Trevor Cooke
SIIRSM, MIRTE, MSOE, FCMI, LCGI
Trevor
originally qualified as a Commercial Vehicle Engineer working in
heavy fleet maintenance examination and repair having spent
several years in the Army where first qualified and got involved
in health and safety matters. On return to civilian life Trevor
held an operational senior management post with profit and loss
responsibility in a well renowned national company. Additionally
Trevor has his NEBOSH, a HNC in Motor Vehicle Management and is
CIPD qualified. He is currently completing his masters’ degree
in Personnel and Development with the University of Brighton.
Trevor has over twenty years H&S experience in a variety of
industries but primarily spent the last ten years in combined
H&S/ HR senior management roles working in the
UK,
USA and Switzerland and is a member of the Institute of Road
Transport Engineers, Institute of Personnel and Development and
a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is currently
employed with the Freight Transport Association as General
Manager of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. |

John Bennett, DipSM, FIIRSM - Honorary President
Appointed to the Board in 1990, having been a member since 1975.
John was IIRSM’s Chairman from 1996 to 1999 when he became
Honorary President. He is now retired but acts as
a consultant. He is also a member of the City Livery Club and
a Freeman of the City of London. |

Ted Quigley DipSM, FIIRSM - Honorary Vice
President
A safety professional for over 30 years and a Freeman of the
City of London. Following a career at sea in the Merchant
Service he became Safety Manager with the Plessey Company/Marconi Aerospace Limited. A member of the Board since
1993, he became Deputy Chairman in 1996 and Chairman from 1999
to 2002. In December 2003 he was made Honorary Vice
President. |

Professor Brian Toft, BA (Hons), Dip Comp Sci (Cantab),
PhD, MInstD, FIIRSM, FIRM, CFIOSH, Hon FICDDS
-
Honorary Vice President
Brian served on IIRSM’s Board
from 1993 to
2002. For his services to the Institute and the risk and safety
profession he was made an Honorary Vice President
in December 2003. He is the principle of Risk
Partnerships and holds a number of advisory academic and
professional risk management appointments. Brian was
presented by RoSPA with a Finalist Certificate for his work in the
Professional Sector in the 1996 Safety Professional of the Year
Awards. In
2006 Brian was presented with the Glynn Evans Memorial Medal
by the Royal College of Radiologists for his work on
involuntary automaticity.

Paul Hopkin, BSc, FIOSH, FIRM, FIIRSM - Honorary
Vice-President
Paul is the Technical Manager for the
Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (AIRMIC),
based in London.
He was previously Director of Risk Management
for The Rank Group PLC. Prior to that he was Head of Risk Management at the BBC and a former
HM Inspector of Factories with the Health and
Safety Executive. His recent book
“Holistic Risk Management in Practice” emphasises the contribution that embedded
risk
management can make to corporate success.
Paul was elected Chairman in 2002.
